Okay, I may not agree with the pardoning of Hunter, but I understand and can sympathize with Biden for doing so. After all, Hunter is his son and if I were in Biden's position I probably would have done the same, but pardoning this guy? Not only does it show that Biden doesn't believe in the rule of law but in fact believes the law should be exploited to use the glaring loophole in the 13th Amendment that allows for slave labor as punishment for crimes. Mr Biden, you have a man who would love to massively expand the PIC (prison industrial complex) taking power next month, why on earth would you show any sort of sign of legitimacy to his ideas. The Pennsylvania judge in this link is objectively terrible. We can argue about Hunter because I can appreciate both sides but pardoning this cretin is a slap in the face of all those he abused:

I don't even know why anyone would be bent about any pardons considering the country just voted a criminal into the White House.

The country did not hold Trump accountable, so how can we honestly hold anyone accountable?

A few thoughts:

1. Trump would probably love to greatly expand the Prison Industrial Complex and do away with, or at least greatly minimize the Civil War Amendments. He may not have personally read Project 2025, after all I can remember back in 2016 you had Hillary's rather thick tome and then you had Trump's Art of the Deal, which was about the same length and had the same syntax and font size and spacing of a Boxcar Children Book, if you have fond memories of The Boxcar Children I am sorry, but most if not all of his cabinet officials have and it is indeed the stuff of nightmares. So when you do things like pardon a judge who made bank off the exploitation of falsely arrested people you are giving tacit approval of his policies

2. I won't lie, I have been on a Bonhoeffer kick recently. No, not the movie, but rather a lot of his works. Seriously, the movie is terrible in terms of his legacy and tries to reinvent him as a tool of the right. However, that is not my point here. No my point is that we are all -regardless of persuasion - are going to have to resist this criminal in the Whitehouse. The future will need to know that there were many Americans (if not a decent sized majority of Americans) who do not approve of his crimes.

3. He may have been democratically elected by a plurality of the electorate, do keep in mind that a third of Americans stayed home and he did not quite get 50 percent of the votes of those who exercised their franchise, but he is a criminal. It is unspeakably wrong that those who spent four years for better or worse -mostly better - attempting to undo his policies from his first four years would pardon people who would feel right at home in his second government.

That's why it's so important to be bent about shit like this. Everyone else has lost their moral compass- powerful Dems included. It's absolutely vital that we don't lose ours too.

Truer words!

We, as the people of the US or we, the people IN the US who have clear enough sight to understand the damage that's coming in the next four years or the we that make up the very few of us who refuse to remain quiet about it?

I wondered the same thing. Trump supporters celebrate crimes committed by that side and accuse others of going after political rivals when they are held accountable. But at the end of the day, this is Biden, and these aren't good pardons.

The last 2, and especially the last
