The Bills swept the season series with the Dolphins last year in winning the AFC East for a fourth straight season. That included a victory at Miami in the final week of the regular season. That win earned the Bills the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoffs and sent Miami to Kansas City for a wild-card round game that the Dolphins lost.

The Bills had a bad experience playing in Miami in September in the 2022 season, losing 21-19 on a Week 3 game. The temperature was 89 degrees, with 63% humidity, and the Bills had no shade on their sideline, unlike the Dolphins. Bills players suffered from heat stress. One upside of this Week 2 game is it will be played at night, so the Bills' bench will not be in the hot sun. It also means the Bills likely get the Dolphins in a cold-weather game in Buffalo later in the season.

The Bills have had a great deal of success against the Dolphins since quarterback Josh Allen took over in 2018, going 11-2 over that span, including the postseason.

Miami looked to have the AFC East firmly in control during the 2023 regular season, but lost three of its final five games in the regular season.

The full regular-season schedule for all 32 NFL teams will be released at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
