Do Bills fans drink too much? This survey says they often do

Buffalo Bills fans received a less than flattering accolade. They’ve been ranked as the second most drunk at home games in the NFL.

According to a survey of sports media company Action Network, Bills fans do some heavy drinking on game days, with nearly 16% of them saying they consume at least five drinks in the span of tailgating and attending games at Highmark Stadium.

Bills Mafia is well-known for their shenanigans during tailgates – such as jumping through tables – which, many times, occur after some alcohol consumption, but this study confirms what many already assumed.

The Action Network surveyed more than 3,000 NFL fans to break down the drinking habits of every fan base – from pregame beers to in-stadium drinks.

It is a sign that Bills fans like to enjoy themselves and they make football games into events, but it is also an indication that plenty of fans go overboard when it comes to partying on game days.

Only Arizona Cardinals fans reported drinking more, with over 18% of their fans saying that they consume five-plus drinks on game days.

The study indicates that 59% of Bills fans pregame by drinking during tailgates, and once they get into Highmark Stadium, they don't slow down, with 70% of them saying they drink during the games, as well.

Green Bay Packers fans drink the least on game days, as 3% of those surveyed during the study reported drinking five or more alcoholic beverages.
