When they made the same complaints about us millennials and then they figured out we are in our 40s, own homes, have families and responsibilities and they moved on to bitching about the next generation. I know a lot of you guys are gen X and there are even a few boomers here so clue me in, was there a lot of derision about you and your generation from older generations when you entered the work force?
I posted this vid because so many of the complaints from employers being made about Gen Z were the ones that used to be made about mine. The vid suggests something an idea I have been toying with for some time namely that the younger generations are not too far removed from the older generations and most of their excesses are more attributable to youth and life inexperience than they are to radicalism and stupidity.
There is a political dimension to this as well. Many years ago there was a study that suggested that the older one gets the more conservative he becomes. I don't mean conservative as in GOP, but as in set in their ways and much slower to change a mindset. The older one gets the slower, more cautious, and nuanced someone gets. I don't mean Trump, he's a fucktard and insane with something my money is still on the syphilis but I mean in general. Meanwhile the younger cohorts are more radical and urgent and less nuanced. They need it done and they need it done yesterday.
