Sabres wrap: Dylan Larkin's shootout goal extends Buffalo's losing streak to 7 games.

Dylan Larkin scored in the third shootout round Monday in KeyBank Center to send the Detroit Red Wings to a 6-5 win.
The Sabres (11-13-4) saw their losing streak reach seven games when Larkin stickhandled around James Reimer and scored on Buffalo's backup goalie.
Andrew Copp's second goal of the game cut the Sabres' lead to 5-4 with 9:33 left in the third period, and Morit Seider tied it 5-5 with only 4:18 remaining in regulation. Alex DeBrincat and Lucas Raymond also scored for the Red Wings.

Jason Zucker was one of three Sabres to have a multi-point game. The veteran winger had two goals and an assist. Peyton Krebs and Ryan McLeod also had two assists apiece.
Zucker and Nicolas Aube-Kubel scored during the second period to give the Sabres a 5-3 lead after 40 minutes. Zach Benson and Tage Thompson had a goal apiece in the first period.
Jordan Greenway returned to the Sabres' lineup after missing nine games with a middle-body injury, and defenseman Ryan Johnson made his season debut as Rasmus Dahlin missed a third straight game because of back spasms.
Jack Quinn, Jiri Kulich and Dennis Gilbert were the Sabres' healthy scratches.
First period
• Benson's shot from the right circle went off Red Wings defenseman Ben Chiarot's stick and past goalie Ville Husso to give the Sabres a 1-0 lead only 1:38 into the game.• DeBrincat tied it 1-1 when the Red Wings won a puck battle. He skated past Sabres defenseman Ryan Johnson and scored on a backhand shot with 15:55 left in the first period.
• Copp added another goal only 41 seconds later to put Detroit ahead 2-1. Red Wings center J.T. Compher passed the puck from the right circle to the far post, where Copp's tap-in gave Detroit the lead with 15:14 remaining.
• Reimer extended his right arm to stop DeBrincat's shot during a 2-on-1 with 11:01 left in the first period, and Henri Jokiharju took a roughing penalty as the Sabres tried to retrieve the puck.
Buffalo did not allow a shot on goal during the ensuing penalty kill. Ryan McLeod and Alex Tuch couldn't convert a shorthanded 2-on-1 against Husso.
• Thompson tied the score 2-2 with his 15th goal of the season. Zucker drove to the left side of the net, then curled a pass to the slot, where Thompson snapped the puck past Husso with 10:25 left.
• Zucker put the Sabres ahead 3-2 with a low shot as Greenway screened Husso during a delayed penalty against the Red Wings. The goal, which came with 4:23 remaining, was Zucker's sixth of the season and second point in the first period.
Second period
• Raymond tied the score 3-3 with a wrist shot from the right circle only 1:05 into the second period.• Aube-Kubel put the Sabres ahead 4-3 by putting a rebound past Red Wings rookie goalie Sebastian Cossa with 17:34 left in the second period. Owen Power's shot from the point was tipped by Beck Malenstyn to create the rebound.
• Zucker's second goal of the game was a drive to the net that made it 5-3 with 10:14 left in the second period. He whiffed on the initial shot, then caught Cossa out of position for his seventh goal of the season.
• The Sabres did not score on their first power play, though Tuch cut to the net and challenged Cossa with a low shot.
• DeBrincat missed the net from the slot during a Red Wings power play late in the second period.
• The Sabres were 7-2 when leading at the end of the second period.
Third period
• Zucker's low shot from the slot forced Cossa to make a save with 15:59 left in regulation.• Cossa used his left arm to stop Benson's shot from the left circle as the Sabres led 5-3 with under 15 minutes to go in the third period.
• Copp and Connor Clifton were given matching two-minute penalties for a confrontation away from the play.
• Sabres defenseman Bowen Byram was penalized for tripping with 13:09 left in the third period, which gave the Red Wings a 4-on-3 for 59 seconds.
• Patrick Kane hit the left post with 23 seconds remaining in the 4-on-3 and 1:24 remaining on Byram's penalty. The Sabres killed the penalty with Reimer making three saves.
• The Red Wings cut the Sabres' lead to 5-4 with 9:33 remaining, as Copp got to a loose puck in front of Reimer.
• Zucker hit the near post with a shot from the left circle shortly after Copp's goal.
• Seider tied it 5-5 with a shot off the crossbar that went past Reimer with 4:18 left in the third period.
• The Sabres went on the power play with 2:19 left in the third period after Seider took a tripping penalty, but it took them 90 seconds to get set up in the offensive zone.
