Should we be concerned

Bill Maher said there are two things that were important to him, the environment and democracy, & I agree with him, but I would add preventing nuclear war and doing something to reduce living costs. In concern lets talk about this hideous little creature. Yes, something has driven this anglerfish, a species of deep water fish that has evolved to live at depths where there is no sunlight, to the surface. Given the two large trash patches we have in the Pacific and given that fish species' populations in both fresh and salt water populations are teetering on collapse we could be in some serious trouble. Look, the oceans and the life in them are our thermostat and our lungs.

So is this angler fish now seen dying in shallow sunlit waters just an anomoly or is something completely catastrophic happening that is destructive to his ecosystem and in the long run ours?

The actual paper doesn’t mention Climate change at all… considering the term was global warming back in 2006 (GW also not mentioned.). It’s a business as usual scenario paper. ‘If this stays the same… it might lead to _______.”

Scientists’ reactions to the study have been mixed. Some see it as a red flag that points to ongoing challenges in measuring the health of fisheries — a critical source of food and jobs for millions worldwide. Others argue that the study overstates the problem, and many corrective measures are already in place.

Counting fish has always been tricky — “like counting trees, except that they move and you can’t see them," Andreoni wrote.
