What to watch for vs. Rutgers
Guards gonna guard: UB’s strength has been its outside play, both on offense and defense. Harness brought support off the bench by scoring 13 points in 22 minutes, after playing only three minutes against UMass.Standing tall: Jordyn Beaty scored in double figures for the third consecutive game; the 6-foot forward and transfer from Texas A&M-Commerce scored 10 points in UB’s 56-49 loss to Toledo in a Mid-American Conference semifinal March 14, then finished with 14 points Sunday in an 84-82 overtime win against UMass.
From the Big Ten to the Great 8: Rutgers entered the WNIT at 11-19, after a first-round exit from the Big Ten Conference Tournament. The Scarlet Knights were 3-15 in the Big Ten, largely considered one of the most competitive conferences in the country, but topped Army in a first-round WNIT game, 71-60, then routed College of Charleston to reach the Great 8.
Deeper and deeper: Six Rutgers players scores in double figures against College of Charleston, including JoJo Lacey (19 points), Destiny Adams (18 points) and Mya Petticord (18 points). Adams finished with a triple-double Thursday, also collecting 15 rebounds and 10 assists.
