Cozens plays hard. Still, in my opinion, headed for Sabres captaincy at some future point. Not scoring as much now as two seasons ago. Why? Well here is my take. He was scoring when he was on a steady line with an emerging Peterka and a healthy Quinn. Quinn got injured twice and is nothing more than a shadow of his original potential. Peterka has proven he is a first line winger so was moved up.
Cozens ceiling is probably second line center, but he's a very good second line center. Ruff has played him as #1 center at times this year with mixed results. And, FWIW, Cozens best year was when Mittelstadt was skating with the team. Again, Mittelstadt was better for these Buffalo Sabres than Zach Benson.
That many teams are calling trying to pry Cozens away should make Kevyn Adams hold onto him tighter. He is young, versatile, and has leadership skills - AND signed.

He is projected to only have 15 goals this season.
PLAN: should be keep him. Provide him with good young wingers and lock in your second line for 4 to 5 years.
