We are a third of the way through the season, and although yes Hochsucker did make his presence known there are other issues this team has:
Things I like:
1. Josh will always give you the chance to get one in the W column
2. Cook is fucking awesome
3. Love how Kincaid has grown
4. Love the everyone eats mentality. Yes, the Pats do have Diggs and yes Diggs is back at least physically, but in the long run he is a time bomb for that team. When Maye doesn't make him the top receiver and they lose in the playoffs we see the Stephanie we all know and love.
5. Prater no longer makes me cringe at the idea of trying to get a field goal
Things I don't like, and considering I can go back to facebook posts from as far back as 2019 about this team for most of these, I have a lot of dislike for McDermott but more on him in a bit
1. Poor football fundamentals. Hochsucker will throw the flag because he is a turd, but when you don't tackle well, you don't block well, you don't run, and you force Josh to play hero ball you will get an L. Sure, Hochsucker will influence that all he can but that is no excuse to play sloppy football
2. Poor situational awareness. Vrabel is a great coach and always has our number, but you know when I knew it was over? When McFuckstick let the clock wind down to just over a minute before calling time out. Damn it man, give Josh one last drive to at least tie it up. Oh and then the stupid flag on the O Line that pinned them back even further.
3. Lack of disciplined play, you will get flagged and that's fined but don't make it easy. Every year from Lee Smith until now we have some dumbass who is a flag magnet for false starts and holding. Its one thing to jump at say Arrowhead, I appreciate that its loud there, but in your house?
4. Playing away from strength aka cute football. You have Cook, you are paying him 50 million fuck use him. Don't outsmart yourself
5. Clock management. As far as clock management goes this was the third most frustrating game of the McDumbass era. 13 seconds, discussion of which is still a felony to discuss in Erie County NY and could caused stand your ground laws to be invoked in southern Jackson county, MO, and the Miami meltdown in 2022 are worse
6. The inability to stay healthy. I get it, I do by January every team is banged up and everyone is injured. I get it, big men are doing things with their bodies that are a ligament too far. However, considering guys got hurt early in camp? That's on the strength and conditioning program. These guys aren't doing conditioning and strength training in the off season and it shows.
7. All of this goes down to coaching. On the one hand I like McDermott. Then I liked Kay Stephenson too. Kay was a lousy coach but he got us our first W in the Orange Bowl since the 1960s. McD? Hey I do like being in contention every year. It sure as shit beats the drought. However, just once I would like to beat Kansas City in January and win the hardware. However, as I joked with a coworker I enjoy the regular season and the chiefs fan he was talking to enjoys January. I am sick of that shit and well honestly I don't see that changing this year. Look, I would even put McD on the wall for turning this team around, and honestly Sean George lil Mac McClellan McDermott has done an admirable job building a winning culture. However, much like Lincoln was never going to beat the Confederacy with McClellan we are never winning it all with McDermott. Its time to get our Ulysses S Grant to finish the job.
