Gibby's Goin on the Road to Rich Stadium fall 2025

So we are about a year away from my pilgrimage to a place that brought me many happy childhood memories and I want to see it and experience first hand before its gone. So next fall I am going to spend a good weekend there. I am planning on flying on a Thursday afternoon and departing on Monday Morning. So here are things I want to know:

1. What is a good hotel or if I do air bnb what is a good neighborhood?

2. I know that there are the falls, especially from the Canadian side, and there is the Frank Lloyd Wright House, and I know there are some beautiful churches there, and the USS Buffalo on the lake front, and the old railroad terminal building, what else should I see?

3. Food. I know Duffs and Anchor Bar are to wings what Gates and Bryants are for KC Barbecue, namely stuff the tourists are shunted off towards while the good stuff is kept a secret by the locals so where are the best places in Buffalo for wings? What about Pizza? How about Beef on Weck?

There will be more as the date gets closer, but I am just starting to pencil in an itinerary.

Hotel … I have Hyatt points so the old ellicottt building downtown Is my choice.

There’s a new courtyard by Marriott I think right near the stadiums

There are good YouTube vids with people looking for the best wings. Gabriel’s gate seems to be way up there. For me. Any bar has good wings.

Dude, Santoras for Pizza and Wings and everything else they do will not disappoint. Duffs and Anchor Bar aren;t the only games in town

As for things to see, the many microbrews downtown. I don't know if they keep doing Food Truck Tuesday in Larkinville after Labor Day but if they do, go. If it's Hockey Season, go to a Sabres game. Or a Bison's game if they're still playing.

Those other things are touristy but if you wanna know what it's really like, do things people form Buffalo do

1. Hotel? Hotel? You don't need no stinkin' hotel. If you ask nicely, I am sure Historian will let you stay at his place for free. If you prefer the smell of cat urine, ask Dr Lecter instead.

2. The Hilton on the Canadian side is THE best place to stay a night if you want a view of both Falls. They usually have deals where they give you coupons towards dinner at Brasa -- AYCE Brazilian Steak House https://brasaniagara.com/ -- and the breakfast place both within the hotel. I find the attractions in Niagara Falls very cheesy but I am sure you can pick and choose what you would like and the American Dollar goes a long way in Canada.

3. I second Sukie's suggestion of Gabriei's Gates https://gabriels-gate.weeblyte.com/ for chicken wings. They are NOT a tourist trap and are THE best wings I have ever had. I was impressed with Bocce Club https://bocceclubpizza.com/ for pizza. I also liked Anderson's https://www.andersonscustard.com/beef-on-weck-buffalo-ny for Beef on Weck. Shit I was also amazed by Wegmans Danny's Favourite Large Sub https://shop.wegmans.com/search?search_term=subs&search_is_autocomplete=true which is at least a couple meals in itself.

What time of the year are you thinking Gibby?

Perhaps Sparty/Shiva and I can meet you at Taps https://tapsbeer.ca/ for a few craft beers.
