A federal raid on a northwest Oklahoma City home is under scrutiny after a family said agents targeted the wrong address. The residents, who had recently moved from Maryland, claim they have no ties to the names listed on the warrant.



A woman who recently moved to Oklahoma City with her three daughters says federal agents raided her home by mistake, seizing their phones, laptops, and cash savings, despite her family's name not being on the search warrant.

The woman, referred to as Marisa by KFOR News 4, had relocated from Maryland just two weeks before the raid. Her husband stayed back temporarily and was supposed to join them over the weekend, as per KFOR.

On Thursday morning, Marisa said around 20 armed people entered her house before sunrise. She said the group identified themselves as agents from ICE, the FBI, and US Marshals, and showed a search warrant for the property. However, the names listed on the warrant did not match anyone in her family. Marisa believes the names belong to former tenants, as the mail that is addressed to them is still being delivered to the house.

“We just moved here from Maryland,” she said. “We’re citizens. That’s what I kept saying.”

Marisa said that the agents forced her and her daughters outside in the rain before they had a chance to get dressed. “They wanted me to change in front of all of them,” she said. “You have her out there, a minor, in her underwear.”

“They were treating us like criminals,” she said. The agents searched the entire home and took their electronics and life savings in cash as “evidence,” as per the KFOR report.

“I told them before they left… we have no money,” she said. “How do you just leave me like this?”

KFOR reached out to the US Marshals Service. It said it knew about the operation but was not involved. The FBI first said it helped with the case but later claimed it wasn’t on the scene, according to KFOR.

My issue was not with the fact that you were having a hard time overriding the decades of unfamiliarity with trans people.

My issue was that you believed the solution to the conflict we both saw unfolding was for trans people to lay down and accept that bigots- not you, actual dyed-in-the-wool full-throated bigots- were not ready to share the world with them. That no matter how many times I explained that this was not an appropriate suggestion it was still the first one you presented every time. That the idea that seeing the conflict coming conferred a degree of responsibility on you to take up the mantle of anti-bigotry was deeply uncomfortable to the point that it never, ever stuck from one conversation to the next.

All my thoughts were at that time was maybe the push was too far too fast. “Family-friendly” trans shows in public with crotch hammocks holding their junk, over the top trans people on TikTok that complain about innocent misgendering, transgenders reading to kids in school all glammed up, stuff like that. The reason you are an enemy of the LGBTQ community isn't because you're opposed to us. It's because you're agnostic in a period of historic human rights backsliding. Taking a hands-off approach to human rights when the bigots are taking a chainsaw to them is insufficient.

If you can effortlessly put yourself into the mind of a bigot and rationalize their response to growing trans acceptance, but you can't put yourself into the mind of a trans person who is tired of being asked to stay in the closet and accept being treated as a second-class citizen and rationalize how one may bristle at being asked to live that way then that is a problem.

It's not a problem that automatically puts you in the category of bigot. But it IS a problem that makes it much less likely that you'll ever put yourself in the category of anti-bigot.
