Letter: A Canadian thank you to Sabres fans

There was a story in the national news on April 29 describing how the fans at a hockey game in Buffalo stepped up and sang the Canadian national anthem when a problem occurred with the sound system. Remarkably, it was not a Canadian team that was playing.

Apparently, this playing of the Canadian anthem is a regular thing at games in Buffalo. I wish to express my sincere thank you to the people of Buffalo for this very heart-warming show of support for Canadians.

Normally, all we hear in the news in Canada are the attacks, snide remarks, and denigrations directed at Canada that come from the Trump administration officials, so to hear of this ongoing show of support is extremely gratifying.

I sincerely thank you.

And I have to say, knowing this will make me much more welcoming towards the American tourists who will be coming to Canada this year.
