Fish fries have long been a Friday night phenomenon, courtesy of the Catholic tradition of abstaining from meat during Lent. While you can eat a fish fry and all its accoutrements on any random Friday, Lent is when fish fries thrive. For the next six-ish weeks, savor the weekly ritual of fried fish, macaroni salad, potato salad, coleslaw, tartar sauce, bread and a lemon wedge, at everywhere from a restaurant dining room to a church basement.

Below is a list of fish fries from churches and community organizations.

I love that you can get a fish fry year round now. Any place in WNY that has a shitty fish fry (like the photo - too small a serving FFS) well that place will no longer exist.. not as important as good wings but close.
