Remembering Things Past

Here's a bummer, I get the feeling that it won't be coming back. Many good times there as a kid, plus we got to ride over the bridge twice.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The former Fantasy Island amusement park on Grand Island — now known as Niagara Amusement Park and Splash World — will not open for the 2026 summer season, the park announced.

“After extensive efforts to prepare for the season and explore every possible path forward, attendance and revenue levels in recent seasons were not sufficient to sustain the costs of operation and continued investment required to rebuild and operate the park responsibly,” owner IB Parks and Entertainment said on its website. “Our local team worked hard throughout the off-season to prepare the property and continue improvements. However, the financial realities of operating the park made opening this season unsustainable.”

Season pass holders will receive a refund for the upcoming season.

IB Parks and Entertainment would not say whether this is a permanent closure, saying that their focus was “on responsibly managing this transition and evaluating future opportunities for the property.”
