The Hill: "Stephen A. Smith: Democratic Party would need to be ‘purged’ before he would run"

THis is how it's supposed to work
No it isn't. It's supposed to work by there being more than one party with a good faith commitment to functioning democracy.

You work with people like THAT if it's necessary. You don't reach across the aisle to people who have proven for at least the past 20 years that what they want more than anything is to break the US government. Those people need to be actively refused quarter.

Those people are every single Republican in the country. Literally. Every. Single. One.

And who votes them into office?

Both parties are THE problem right now. Yes Trump and most Republicans are the very worst between choosing Democrat or Republican. We are kidding ourselves if we believe the way the Democratic party is structured today is going to serve us. How is it Democrats just like Republicans go into Congress and have minimal wealth and walk out with a fortune? Insider trading anyone? How is it Biden was losing his mind and the Dems hid it? Instead of at the very least forcing Biden to not seek reelection 2 years into his presidency they let him try and run. Then there was no primary because of it. They new Biden was done well before the election. Democrats are for full Democracy? Trump is worse yes but both are nothing but quick sand but one party just sucks you down faster. It's time for an independent party that will support the majority of the hard working people. Shut down corporate theft of the American people.

Bipartisanship is dead.

Look no further than Covid relief checks.

When stimulus was needed under Trump, Dems voted for it.

When the same stimulus was needed under Biden, every single Republican voted against it.

When only one side compromises you can’t have bipartisanship. Dems bend over backwards to keep things running. Reps are just obstructionists.

This is just our shitty new reality.

It’s not just rampant polarization, it’s also heavy radicalization on the Republican side. We have to call it like it is.

And who votes them into office?
What does that matter?

Are you going to argue that it's anti-democratic to expel criminals from government?

Is this going to turn into a "The fine men, women, and non-binary people of New York's 3rd Congressional District were disenfranchised when George Santos was removed from Congress" thread?

No, it's stop blaming Politicians who get voted into office by stupid and gullible people. If we want better politicians, stop retards from voting for shitty politicians

That's not true. The Serfs didn't put the lords in power, they stole it or were born into it
And the system that doesn't give voters an option outside "people who want to break government" vs "people who come off as transparently inauthentic, out-of-touch assholes" predates current voters. You're letting the people who forced that paradigm into play completely skirt accountability for it and blaming people with no power instead.

Because you're a fucking retard.

The fix isn't to take peoples' votes away. It's to take away the candidates who want to break the government. They can't vote for them if they're not allowed on the ballot.
