Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) – The Buffalo Sabres left the first period down 2-0 to the New Jersey Devils on Friday, but they didn’t let that do them in. In three first periods against the Devils this season, they’ve been outscored, 8-2, but this felt different.
Both goals by the Devils were deflections that Devon Levi had no chance on. The first one was tipped by Max Willman and then went in off Rasmus Dahlin. The second by Jesper Bratt hit JJ Peterka’s stick and shot up over Levi’s shoulder and under the crossbar.
After that happened, the Sabres penalty kill went to work. Penalties to Bo Byram and Alex Tuch gave New Jersey a 26 second two man advantage and they had control of the puck, but Jordan Greenway, Owen Power and Connor Clifton didn’t allow a shot. In three power plays, the Devils only managed two shots.
