The Buffalo Bills will be back on the practice field Wednesday afternoon for the first time since last Thursday’s 31-10 win over the Miami Dolphins. Midday update:
Injury updates
Coach Sean McDermott said linebacker Terrel Bernard (strained left pectoral) and nickel back Taron Johnson (right forearm) are out for Monday’s game against Jacksonville. Expected to practice today will be defensive lineman Dawuane Smoot (toe), defensive end Javon Solomon (oblique) and defensive end Casey Toohill (knee).Smoot and Solomon were inactive in Weeks 1-2.
McDermott did not provide an update on if Bernard is under consideration for injured reserve, which would keep him out a minimum of four games.
Cook honored
Running back James Cook was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring three touchdowns in the Week 2 win over Miami. It is the second time Cook has won the award (last December after the Bills’ win over Dallas). Cook became the fifth Bills player to have at least two rushing touchdowns and at least one touchdown catch in a game and the first Bills running back to do so since Thurman Thomas in 1992.Davis, Morse return
Center Mitch Morse and receiver Gabe Davis signed with the Jaguars this offseason after playing for the Bills. They return to town Monday night.“I wish those guys well,” McDermott said. “Two studs as it relates to what they added here. Two guys I loved being around and loved having here and helped us have the success we had.”

Spector to start
McDermott said Baylon Spector would start at linebacker after replacing Bernard against Miami. Dorian Williams will continue to start.Confidence in Bass
The Bills worked out several kickers earlier this week.“Just keeping an eye on things like we do at every position,” McDermott said. “We remain confident in Tyler and what he’s doing and confident in what he’ll continue to do.”
About the Jaguars
The Jaguars are 0-2, having lost at Miami and vs. Cleveland.“Their (defensive) front is a headache,” McDermott said of the Jaguars.
