I have ,for the rest of the month , cable service with Comcast Xfinity offered through my HOA. That community contract is ending and I’m gonna stream it. Stepsukie has YouTubeTV any thoughts or experience with a streaming service that has live local channels?

Xfinity offers a plan but it’s sketchy. 20/mo I get 10-15 channels to stream. Sounds great but broadcast fees and taxes are 35 - 40/mo. So it’s 55-60 for 10-15 channels. Bullshit pricing policy.

I’m not paying for sports or premium programming. I have streaming services for that like Max and Netflix and Prime and Peacock

What do you use or had experience cutting the cable cord…

When we got rid of Directv around 10 years ago I picked up sling blue. Local channels I just use an antenna but it does get the local fox channel. Has literally hundreds of channels because I think the free sling is attached to it. NFL network as well. I get my Bills games how I get them though. Around fifty bucks a month, well worth it. https://www.sling.com/service/sling-blue
 
Well, being an Area Manager for a Dish Network office, I would be compelled to say Sling, but Dish has not really put as much into it as I'd like to see. I don;t know much about DTV's streaming service but I haven't heard many complaints.

I would avoid services like YTTV or Hulu+ as their pricing is approaching Cable TV rates.

I go the dark way. I started with the Jailbroken Firestick, but now I use a Homatics Box R 4K Plus on my Sony 65X900H TV, Sonos Surround with a solid IPTV service, and I can watch any channel on the planet. Live Sports is on about a 2-minute Delay, but that's fine. It's still Hi-Def, and I use Kodi for on-demand Sports replays, movies, and TV shows.

I currently use Surfshark, but looking for a bona fide' better VPN. SS can get hit with buffering at times on all their servers.

My buddy, also a Dish tech, once said that how I get my TV is amazing, and I told him, the only reason it's illegal is because if it were legal, we wouldn't have jobs...
 
It’s not about channels because I wontb watch them on whatever service I choose. It’s the apps of the channels they I use. A&E lifetime Bravo etc. but you need a provider for those. My other streaming services are in play like Max Peacock appleTV + Paramount + Showtime

I had direcTv when it was satellite for years but now it’s all digital so …

Cable gonna cost me 120 a month
Hulu YTTV are 92 with tax
Dtv about the same
Sling less but less channels and not all local affiliates

I’ll keep researching

You must live far out in the country. A 60 mile antenna gets a lot here, all of the locals and more. It sits around four feet from the TV and is not really noticeable. Usually around $50
 
Tried the antennae before. Unfortunately even highly rated ones blow due to positioning in my living room. I’m in a packed suburban area in concrete multi floor structure. Plus I need a provider for apps to work and I have multiple TVs

I installed an outdoor OTA that a friend got on Amazon. One of those long beams with all the pieces you turn out. It had a power inserter, and was only on a single-story roof, and it picked up 149 channels! Some were pixellated or had weak signals but it picked up some Cable channels like ESPN and FOX News

All fine and good but I need a program provider for all the apps I currently use and for morning viewing . I figured I can watch CBS network live programming on paramount+ (like tonight’s 60 minutes assault on Trump which was great.)

I can get ABC on Hulu I believe without paying for Hulu live… so I may go sling and only have NBC local

Ya know… for hurricane stuff

I’m thinking in person Xfinity will deal. Will report back.

I use an OTA for tornado stuff
 
Listen here Oliver Douglas… I need tech to work. I need a provider for my apps to work .








I too have OTA when blacked out during storm on the Genny
 
I was a dish network customer for years and switched over to Hulu awhile back. I get Disney plus, ESPN plus with it so to me it's cheaper than what I was paying before. I also have Netflix, Apple TV and Amazon Prime. Netflix and Apple TV comes with my phone service. Hulu is ok I do have issues with the app time to time but it does the job.
