Happy Ending In Syria?

Nice story here about a man searching for his brother, a political prisoner. After 39 years, the rebel liberation of prisons in Aleppo and Hama have brought them one step closer to reuniting.

Things are looking good for Syrians for the first time in a long time. Assad is a monster, and if he is well and truly deposed it will be a significant bright spot to close out an otherwise bleak year politically.

I wouldn't celebrate just yet. Any rights women had are gone. Religious freedom is gone. Also, Syria gets to be a bastion of terrorism for decades. This shit show is just getting started.

Assad was a monster. I'm absolutely going to celebrate.

Things can get worse. They can get better. But a family dictatorship was just toppled, and that's objectively a good thing on its own.

Its nice that a dictator is gone. Its sad that Syria probably becomes a haven for Islamic extremism. Speaking of Isalmic Extremism, why is it that ISIS never attacked or attacks Israel or Saudi Arabia? Anyways, enough for thinking aloud as that is often called tinfoilhatism.

By the way, lets not forget that George W Bush is responsible for this civil war. He destabilized Iraq and damn it that asshole has given us a war that will probably go on long after you and I and Jammy and Jammy's kids and his kids kids are gone. Syria will shortly reentrench Netanyahu and Erdogan (we're never getting rid of those fuckers), but Syria will also become a base of terrorism against Russia (I know I know, you are fine with that), but it will also be used as a bastion for terror operations against Turkey (or is it Turkiye now?), Europe and us because that is what Jihadism does. So while one despot is gone, the trade off is decades of repression against women, ethnic and religious minorities, and another 20 to 50 years+ of Jihadism. So while the sickness is gone, I don't like the doctor's bill or the side effects of the treatment. Its sort of like treating a covid outbreak with a thermobaric bomb. Sure, you got rid of the covid, but you've also wiped out a whole city.

Right now the people of Syria are celebrating. I'm not interested in stepping on their toes with "well, let's see what happens next" or whatever. For the time being, they're happy and they've been suffering long enough to deserve it.

Hope is powerful. Let it do its job.

Tulsi Gabbard really nailed that one eh?

AND poor Putin who was there just trying to teach Assad how to love.

I hope Sparty/Shiva can really dig deep on this one and go full r-word in defending this crap sandwich he was just fed.

I got Sparty/Shiva all triggered over at the Zone

His response....

So, in your opinion, is this latest development a good thing or a bad thing for Syria and Syrians?

And are you now willing to make common cause with Bibi and the Zio-Nazis just to piss me off?

Syria, in strategic purposes, is worthless.

But it's priceless for Bibi and you know who.

My response...

At this stage my friend, my goals are much more micro and personal.

In your current rapidly diminishing mental state, you can't seem to recall that you were ever wrong on this site or elsewhere.

AND in your usual time wasting fashion, challenge others to search the database here for hours on end to prove you wrong.

IF they do to any reasonable person, you then play your damn reindeer games.

So today I want to make sure that I do everything possible so that you remember for the rest of miserable life that YOU WERE WRONG.

His response...

Excuse me but how or where am I now wrong?

What am I supposed to be wrong about?

My final response...

NOT playing that game.

I am sure one of the American Stooges will take you on.

The weather is warm already out there and I have another 3-4 hours of outdoor chores to do before I can get in the hot tub with a 6-pack of IPAs and celebrate FREEDOM IN SYRIA.

Anyone who uses bio-weapons on his own people is the greatest example of someone who's afterlife should be filled with pain and agony

One thing is sure; there will never be complete stability in the Middle East between those nations or any that aren't fundamentally Muslim-run governments

It was NOT a good place to give the Jews a Homeland but you know the Jews being The Chosen People and all...they just would NOT settle for anywhere else.

Uganda and Texas were much much better options for a Jewish state in the 40's.

THIS is why I'm fine with him not coming here. He thinks he's always right, that he's someone who should be admired and envied and that he's some greatly accomplished person when in fact, he's just a decaying old man who can barely walk across a room

Uganda and... .Texas??? lol!!

NO really.

Read the history of the Balfour Accords where the world powers discussed and then determined where to give the Jews a homeland.

Uganda was a possibility.

The Jews are hard working and intelligent. They would taken the natural resources of Uganda and made it into the true jewel of Africa.

Texas? The Jews would have built a 100 foot high wall decades ago with the oil proceeds under their feet.

Oh joy, Assad is gone but now Nazi Netenyahu gets to expand his reich into Syria. He annexes Lebanon and now he and his proxies are in Syria too. I'd pop the champagne but well this is just terriblr.

I have never understood why anyone would make an international relations decision based on their very limited understanding of an ancient text. Pro tip guys, if you read something and it makes you think the earth is 6600 years old and that the universe came into being 4600 years ago on a Sunday in October even when all, and I do mean all, the evidence points to a universe (at least in its current form) that started approximately 13.68 billion years ago then maybe just maybe you should not be using that book for international relations.

Any other nation does what Israel is doing and they get sanctioned. Fuck, in that part of the world any other nation does what Israel is doing they get fuggin bombed by international coalitions with vast armadas of carrier groups and regime change happens and Nutjobyahoo gets ultimatums to leave power in 72 hours. As bad as Assad was, Nutjobyahoo is worse. Also, why exactly is it that ISIS and ISIL, the ISLAMIC STATE, never attacks Israel. Have you noticed this @SpikedLemonade. Does this not seem curious to you, suspicious even? Its almost like ISIS is someone's proxy. A silent partner or a very strange bedfellow. Someone who would gain mightily from weakened states all around it reduced to nonviability.
