I doubt you personally know any intelligent person which very much makes sense to me.
The truth is that Craft IPA Drinkers are not only of above average intelligence and income earning, they also have nicknames like TRIPOD, MOOSE COCK and POLE VAULT DICK.

Some of the DIPA (Double IPA) and TIPA (Triple IPA) are ridiculous when it comes to the sheer volume of hops added.
I have tasted many in my travels -- Canada, Seattle, Portland, Argentina, etc. -- and even once tried a QIPA (Quadruple IPA) which was practically undrinkable.
The wife and I were one of Brad Clifford's first customers when we walked in there in 2017 during his first week after opening and he has become a friend.
Brad and I were talking about these TIPAs a few months ago and were laughing on how ridiculous they have become. He said some are just based on a dare in terms of how many hops you can add. He said that before he became a commercial brewer he experimented creating them at home in small batches but the reality is commercially they are very expensive to make which means the has to crank up the price and he doubts they would sell well.
His DIPAs are great -- ALL ROADS, DOUBLE WIDE, etc, -- but even those he does NOT make on a regular basis.
I was there yesterday (and a couple times last week) and my current go to is ARTIFICIAL PARADISE which on drink on tap and buy in 8 cans to stock my ManCave mini-fridge.

IPAs by design were to have a wickedly high alcohol content with extra hoppiness to deaden what would be a cider like taste.

His other beers look most excellent. I brewed quite a bit before giving up drink.
To me, the bitterness and the punch of 6.5% plus alcohol content makes for stumbling around. There are many many “new” beer peeps that have no idea what those initials mean and why have them when never even made in India
I would bet there are many that thought “eyepeeaye” was the actual beer name.
On the NA front, BERO is a great brand. They make an IPA which makes no sense since the whole idea is heavy alcoholic cider deadened by hops.
But wheat, Pilsner, Lager. Ales of all kinds, even a few honey beers were all excellent.
Back in the day of course.

Plus you can ride by your old digs in Alden on the way or on the way back. Grab a burger or whatever at the Glen Iris Inn while you're there. One thing about Letchworth, it can't be duplicated and will be remembered forever. I'm sure you've been there many times but for someone who hasn't it's a real treat.
Watkins Glen is pretty much a day or overnight trip but that is another one to consider. Another one that can't be forgotten.
