Remembering Things Past

And those alpha numeric exchanges are why phones had rotary dials and later buttons with the little numbers. Also, if I recall correctly until the the 70s or so your phone was actually owned by Bell Telephone and you rented it from them. Ah and who remembers the phonebook? Yellow for business, grey for residences, and blue for government
Ma Bell… what a racket they had… renting the phones but then again many here rent modems and routers… SMH

My mom's first job from the early 70s until about about 1990 was operator services for Ma Bell (Southwestern Bell around here and then they made operator services a part of AT&T. The pay was okay, but AT&T moved quickly to consolidate and they shut down that positiion. From what I understand she absolutely haaaaaaated that job, but she got a nice pension, they gave her a lump sum and she gave me 20,000 to close on my house.

Beta was superior but vhs got widely distributed and adopted… Sony had it too locked down.
I bought my first vcr in ‘79, it was an RCA top loader, in ‘85 I got a Hitachi that a buddy recommended, but I hated it, and bought a Betamax too.
I had Sony trinitrons in the house and loved them. Bought the first console trinitron Sony put out in 79 or 80..

I couldn’t believe that VHS would beat out Betamax at the time, and I have read about the VHS vs. Beta wars, but can’t even remember why VHS won now..

BETTER PORNO

Didn’t know if anyone has put this one on, but these were big when I was a kid. As were sticks and rocks. Chunks of mud were fun to throw at trees.

I quit my paddleball the day I learned to jerk off, couldn’t chance a wrist injury..
