Somewhere in Kansas City, MO the school district has a warehouse of IBM 286s and Apple 1 and 2 computers (and yes I know this one predates those) that it bought with its desegregation lawsuit money. Oh, I can still see the frilly edges of the dot matrix printers and the Oregon Trail and getting fucking dysentery.
Army JROTC in high school, one was a major, retired army green beret, the other was a retired army drill instructor. Just great people. Before high school? Well it was daily when I was in Kindergarten but after that it was quite a few years. My take is kindergarten was 88 to 89 and the last embers of the Cold War were going but then in about 89 when the Wall fell and Communism collapsed nobody really saw a need to instill patriotism.
All the way through 5th grade (93-94). Sixth grade they started doing them by mail. Yeah there were some quarters (two semesters, 4 quarters), where you hoped to God you got home to get the mail before your mom did.
When Pizza Hut was actually something that was halfway fancy. Yeah, when the pies were made in the restaurant, and those red glasses. Man it was neat. Something terrible happened to our country in the mid 90s, we lost so much that was amazing. So what happened c 1995 to 1997? Also, you were a trucker @HipKat you remember Furr's Cafeteria? They had some big ole fried chicken piecesInside a sit down Pizza Hut when they used to have real ovens (pre conveyor belt) . Pizza Hut was too expensive compared to a (better) small pizzeria.![]()

We washed dishes for free food. Those were good times. I'll never understand why they abandoned that for the swill they serve nowWhen Pizza Hut was actually something that was halfway fancy.
