So, What DO the Republicans do now...

push forward and believe in liberalism.
Liberalism is a failed ideology. It is grounded in the premise that all political actors attempt to fulfill their civic duty in good faith. It cannot account for fascism and has historically failed to do so every time the two ideologies clashed.

The values espoused by liberalism are good, but they can only be realized if we evolve past liberalism into socialism and communism.

than there is no hope and it is what it is.... at this point I value critical thinking skills, sprinkled with decency.

Marxists generally oppose what is called "liberalism." Ans the US is, like most countries, already a social democracy, which to me is where the clash and give and take have and will occur. Why anyone would want communism is beyond me, but hey, I can learn.

We oppose liberalism on the basis of its refusal to reject capitalism making the values it purports to espouse impossible to achieve and/or preserve. The values of free speech, democracy, and equality are cornerstones of Marxism's critiques of capitalism and our preferred alternatives.

What do you think communism is?

I don't believe capitalism is a bad thing, not from a global prespective that is.

It objectively is, and it's especially bad from a global perspective.

I'll ask you a similar question I asked the other guy. What do you think capitalism is?

Just wanna make sure in both instances that we're talking about the same thing.

Quite simply, the eradication of capitalism. I understand Marx asked the question “who owns the surplus value of labor? The laborer, or the capitalist?” The US has done well to require by law a pension (Social Security), healthcare (Workers Compensation) and state and local governments as well with other programs, including income taxes at some or all levels.

There will never be a Marxist revolution here, and very likely nowhere else.

I stand corrected. So you’re fully aware communism and libertarianism are two awkward partners on an imaginary dance floor?
I've been nothing but 100% explicit that the world I want is a world that I will not live to see. We're several generations away from making a feasible transition.

That doesn't matter to me in the slightest. I don't need something to be credibly imminent to make the case that it would be better.

Fair enough. I just don’t see it working with our current ape brains. It seems to make sense to only one part of our brains, and when practiced, yields to the worst parts. Kind of like being a “youth pastor.”
