The Republicans use the immigrants as a dog whistle, just like transgenders and bathrooms. NOW is the time to HOLD the Republicans to the storm they have created. They are not OPEN to discussions, it has been clear for decades and these message forums are perfect examples of that. Arguing back and forth with ICR isn't holding the Republicans accountable. They voted this clown and his circus back into office, as if they are the "fixers" and the "rescuers", but all they really are, are the enablers to the Narcissistic Sociopath and the rest of us are being subjected to their chaos and harm that they are about to unleash on this country. The writing is on the wall with his cabinet picks, and what he said he would do. They are going to round up ALL the "illegals" and send them back to where they came from, and white men of this country will resume back to being empowered to pound their chest with proud victory, and then the crash will hit, and they will have to OWN what they did.

I wouldn't say ICR and I are arguing as much as having a debate that we're primarily on the same side of. ICR's not my biggest fan, anyway, so he's going to keep trying to show where I'm wrong while I show him that he's missing some of the perspectives.

Regardless, we'll both agree with you, I'm sure on the danger that this country is facing with this terrorist - and he is a terrorist - being elected back into office.

The Bible-thumping base is a hard minority in the country. They know they cannot sell their stupid "pro-life" story to the masses as they don't buy it. It has gone on back to, at least, Eisenhower's tenure in the White House. Do the MAGA morons, all of whom idolize Ronald Reagan, remember the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986?

YES and I say WELCOME to being an American!! Where we ALL want to take care of each other.

I just had the PRIVILEGE of taking myself to a brewery to give myself a mental break .. when I ordered my first beer and gave them my debit card, I as told that a regular patron who wishes to remain anonymous paid FOR everyones beer and merchandise.

GOOD things happen in America, where they don't happen in OTHER countries. Give these people access to WHAT WE HAVE!! Spread the WEALTH!! It comes back in better ways..

Again, MY plan to control the border would help alleviate that.
A big part of this is to INVEST in the countries that many of these people are escaping from instead of enabling the corrupt governments that allow those conditions to exist in the first place.

That is THE issue.

Help financially and otherwise for those "shit hole" countries that they are fleeing from to become much more attractive places for them to remain there rather than scrambling to the US like cockroaches.

I agree insofar as that goes, but that's no longer a viable approach. The problems with these places are rapidly going to become not just economical, but ecological. When the worst effects of climate change really take hold, a lot of the world is going to become uninhabitable. People will come here because the planet will literally kill them if they stay put, and our legal immigration system can't process them quickly enough to save lives. So a significant increase in illegal immigration is 100000000% unavoidable. I strenuously encourage you to make peace with that fact, lest the shitheads who convinced you that the world would be better if we killed all the queer and trans people in it also convince you we have to kill all the browns at the border.

They're going to put them in camps and use them as cheap (slave) labor so that prices can go down and farmers will have cheap (slave) labor all under the guise of "well, they're here illegally, so they knew the risks"
 
I don't know .. we are 3 weeks out from the election. I still can't turn the TV on, my daughter in Florida called, one of her girlfriends in college found out she is pregnant and she is past the 6 week deadline, so she is now looking into having her come here for an abortion, and I still feel like we are never going to survive this. I am literally heartbroken and have still never felt more helpless in my life.
